dark rise review
dark rise is the first book i’ve read by cs pacat, and it most certainly won’t be the last. it was filled with dark twists, an unpredictable plot, and loveable characters.
despite the very slow beginning, dark rise was a good read. the only reason i rated this book 4, rather than 5, stars is because of the slow beginning. it made it hard to get into and connect with the characters. around half way, it begins to pick up and things get really interesting.
our two main characters, will and violet were interesting to read about, and to watch learn and develop. i liked will from the get go, but violet took some time to grow on my. i really enjoyed the relationship between james and will. they had the perfect banter that made it entertaining. will and violet could use a little more development. they felt like co-worker friends rather than actual friends.
katherine’s povs seemed unnecessary for most of the book, only really becoming important to the storyline at the end. i enjoyed her character (almost as much as the protagonists), but it could’ve done without those chapters.
the plot twists towards the end were engaging, and unpredictable. we’re left with a cliffhanger, which i can’t wait for the next book!!
