i received a copy of the high mountain court from harper collins nz in exchange for an honest review.

the high mountain court review

the high mountain court is the first book i’ve read by a.k mulford, but i’ve enjoyed it so much that i can see them becoming a quick favourite!

the high mountain court is so beautifully written, that i couldn’t put it down. i absolutely loved the characters, and found them well developed.

i enjoyed the world building and lore behind the witches and fae. i felt that the social issues between the groups were explained well, and felt realistic. the romance also felt real, rather than some of the unrealistic stuff we normally get.

this book had some sex scenes/spice, which isn’t something i like to read about. i know some people devour it, so i thought i’d mention it regardless.

unfortunately there were some things/scenes that felt like blatant rip off of other books (such as from blood and ash, and a court of thorns and roses). i found it annoying as i was like “haven’t i read this already?”

aside from that, i found the pacing a little all over the place. some things were a nice fast pacing, while others were super slow.

overall, i still really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the next one in the series.
