i received a free copy of tim te maro and the subterranian heartsick blues, by hs valley, in exchange for an honest review, thanks to hardie grant publishing.

tim te maro is the perfect book if you’re looking for something that’s easy to read and with a little fantasy on the side.
one thing i enjoyed about this book is that all the characters are likeable. (usually there’s at least one character that gets on my nerves). everyone was well developed, and the two main characters underwent good character changes. both tim and elliot were fun to read about, and it was nice to watch their relationship grow.
i really enjoyed the (somewhat) enemies to lovers between elliot and tim, which ended up being friends with benefits to lovers.
also, a book written by a kiwi author set in new zealand???? i need more books like this in my life!
my only issue with this book is in the second half/middle/towards the end started to drag a bit, resulting in me trying to skim read so i wouldn’t loose interest.
overall, it was a fun book to read, with loveable characters, and it’s something i’d recommend to anyone into lgbtqia+ books.

Terrific review. It’s nice that you liked all the characters! I agree that it’s rare in a book to like everyone.
i agree! it’s so rare.
Great review, Chelsea! This sounds like a wonderful book, and I agree that there isn’t enough books set in NZ.
thank you!
I’ll be adding this to my TBR, thank you! 😍 😍
