the merciless ones review
the merciless ones is a phenomenal sequel to the gilded ones. i wasn’t sure anything could top how good the first book was, but this one blew it out of the park!
bri has grown a lot as a character. she’s come in to her power more than before. she’s strong, determined and truly a force to be reckoned with. in the gilded ones, i found she was a bit of a mary sue (for a Wikipedia definition), but in the merciless ones i found her to have more flaws and showing more weaknesses.
just like in the gilded ones, this book follows the same strong plot lines, where the action is non stop. i found i was never bored while reading the merciless ones, and there wasn’t a lot of info dumping.
i have to applaud forna’s writing style for remaining consistent. a lot of authors’ writing takes a dip after book one, but hers was just as good (if not better)!
i’m really looking forward to the next book in the series, and seeing how forna delivers in the next installment.
