violet made of thorns review

violet made of thorns was on my list of anticipated releases for 2022. with a beautiful cover and an exciting premise, how could it not be? coupled with the stunning fairyloot edition, i was in awe of this book.

unfortunately, this book remains one of my biggest disappointments.

plot wise, there was a lot going on. i just wasn’t invested in any of it. i didn’t particularly care what happened to the characters.

i also found the characters fairly flat and boring, which really didn’t help things. i’m unsure if this is because of the lack of worldbuilding/history that made things seem very shallow and surface level.

on a completely different note, i found the romance felt forced. i like a natural feeling romance, rather than one where the author has decided these two would get together but hasn’t given enough examples of them actually liking one another.

to put it simply, i wasn’t a very big fan of this book. i liked that it was short and didn’t drag on for another hundred pages.
