year of the reaper review
one of my favorite things about this book is that it’s a standalone. it’s hard work trying to keep up with series that are still being released (i mean, a year later, you can guarantee i won’t remember it). despite being a standalone, i felt the author did an excellent job portraying character development and wrapping the plot up nicely at the end. i didn’t think there were any plot holes and was satisfied with how things turned out.
the characters in this book were very well written, i don’t think there was a single one that i disliked. cas was likeable, and i enjoyed watching unravel the mystery, as well as how he changed over the course of the book. i enjoyed his friendship with lena. i wish we had a little more development between the two of them in regards to their relationship. but other than that, it was very well done.
i loved the mystery. although i did guess it early on, i didn’t think it was going to turn out the way it did. i found it fairly unique compared to a lot of other books. i enjoyed how things were slowly fed to the reader rather than in a large lump at the end. the mystery also felt realistic and believable.
overall, year of the reaper was a quick and easy read, and it definitely makes me want to pick up more books by the author.

Agreed on standalone fantasy! I find it a bit difficult to catch up on series.
so true!!
i feel like this book is so underrated, i haven’t heard a lot about it but i’ve still heard good things! great review๐
i’m so surprised by that! i thought it’d be a big thing, as it was such a good concept and cover, but i’ve heard hardly anything!
