the paris apartment review

this is the first book by lucy foley that i’ve read. i definitely plan to pick up her other books as the paris apartment was a fantastic read.

while the writing flowed smoothly, and was a fast paced book, i found that nothing actually happened in the first 85%. while nothing much happened, it seemed to pass relatively quickly, so it wasn’t as if it was a bad experience.

the twists at the end were interesting. i managed to guess a few but the others were a whirlwind. i wish it the twists were littered throughout instead of condensed at the end. it would’ve made for a more intense experience.

the characters were fairly likeable, (aside from a few), but the mystery had me second guessing everyone. you know it’s a good mystery when you can’t guess what’s going to happen next. the few i struggled with acted like they had something to hide, making it hard to fully trust them.

the romance felt rushed, almost like insta love. while i wasn’t a fan, it wasn’t the main plot point.

all in all, i found this book exciting and hard to put down. i loved the paris setting (admittedly, i’ll read any book set in france). i look forward to picking up the authors other books, as she’s proven handle mystery well.
